Why Is Dear John Rated PG-13?
A brief but intense scene of soldiers under fire is seen, along with some bloody injuries. Characters are shown in combat zones. A man talks about a fight that resulted in a facial scar. Male characters engage in a fistfight and other skirmishes at a party. One man sustains injuries to his face. A man lies about his home life. Characters drink at home, in social settings and following a difficult experience. After passionate kissing, a couple undresses and engages in sexual activity (some brief, partial back and shoulder nudity is seen). The script contains infrequent scatological terms, mild profanities and terms of Deity.
