This movie spawned several sequels and a 2010 remake also titled A Nightmare on Elm Street. Writer/director Wes Craven has made lots of horror films, most of which have been rated R by the MPAA. The exceptions have been his thriller Red Eye (rated PG-13) and Music of the Heart (an inspirational story based on the life of an influential violin teacher.) Actor Johnny Depp went on to star in many films, including The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
