Faking his musical credentials is also the ploy of traveling salesman Harold Hill in the Music Man. Based on real events, the Von Trap family competes in a Austrian choir competition shortly after the Nazi’s invade their country in The Sound of Music. Cuba Gooding Jr. also plays the part of a Miami dentist who goes to Alaska to collect his inheritance from a deceased relative in Snow Dogs.
Home Video Extra Features
If you found yourself wanting the music to last just a little bit longer when you watched this movie in theaters, you’ll be happy to know your wish has been granted. The Fighting Temptations DVD release features eight extended musical numbers. Some of these, like Heaven Knows and the incredibly imaginative Love Me Like A Rock (definitely one of the highlights of this movie when the historic O’Jays sing the ditty as a true barbershop quartet-complete with a musical razor), are complete stretched productions that fit perfectly into the movie. Unfortunately you don’t have the option to watch the movie with these extended segments-they must be viewed as separate elements under the “Special Features” menu.
Otherwise this DVD delivers the usual goods with deleted scenes, theatrical trailer, and previews of more Paramount titles. And if you want widescreen, make sure you buy the right disc. The full screen version is sold as a separate product.
