The desire to protect others from the evils and sorrows of the world lies behind the magic of Brigadoon, a fictional story also set in Scotland. Gerard Butler, who plays the stranger hired to pretend to be Frankie’s father can be seen (partially masked of course) in 2004’s film version of The Phantom of the Opera.
